Home for the Holidays

So here we are at 05:48 Christmas morning.  Woke up at my usual 03:00 witching hour and couldn't figure out what had roused me this time.  And then it struck me.  I live on a corner on what's a very busy intersection of the TransCanada Highway.  Even though there's a berm between the road and the comunity to help keep the traffic noise down, it was silent.  Normally when a transport rolls through the intersection you can hear a 'boom' (or is it more of a rumble?) as their trailers roll over the bumps in the road, but not a thing this morning.  Talk about a silent night..................
Laid there for an hour and decided to get up, check in with my blogosphere buddies, read the paper on line and came across this story of soldiers coming home for the holidays.  Go ahead, read it.  It brought a tear to the old cougar's eye.
And hot on the heels of that article this song came on the radio
Happy Ho Ho and all that jazz.

  2. And to you too, Buck. Have a puff on a stogie and a beer for me.

  3. One of the constants on board a submarine is the drone of ventilation fans. If they stopped run, I would waken instantly at the sudden silence.

    Merry Christmas, Deb!
