So I went off to the physiotherapist this morning and the news is really not that good. He (Dave) started manipulating my knee and my hamstring immediately went in to a spasm so I got to lay there with heat on it to get it to relax while he went off to see some other patients. When he came back he manipulated it some more and felt around in there. Not good news. Apparently I've torn (or as Dave put it, 'popped') a ligament and done cartilage damage.
The good news? He's going to get me in to see a sports medicine doctor. AND since I don't have a family doctor (it's dang near impossible to find a physician that's taking new patients in Alberta) it will make it easier for him to get me in.
In the meantime, I'm going to go elevate my leg and put some more ice on it.
The sports doctor bit is GOOD news... the rest not so much. I hope your fridge has an ice maker, Deb. I further hope you get as well as possible, soon.
ReplyDeleteNo ice maker Buck, but I DO have a bag of frozen peas.
ReplyDeleteMy wishes for a speedy recovery Deb!
ReplyDeleteI think the ice Buck mentioned was for the drink you should make yourself.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was thinking the same thing as Lou. They can do some amazing things with knee/ligament problems now. We have a major sports medicine clinic at the hospital where I work, and I've seen some pretty impressive recoveries by college and pro athletes.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be okay, kiddo. Time, I guess...
Thanks for the update. We love ya', and are pulling for you!
Duh, sometimes I can be a little thick. I don't drink the hard stuff anymore so I didn't go down that path.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the well wishes guys, I'll keep you looped.
Good luck with that bum knee, Deb.
